Thought for the Day...

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I wanted to share something our pastor mentioned to my MOPS group a few weeks ago.  He came with requested words of wisdom for us from veteran parents.  One of the things he said really stuck with me:
"If you are not teaching your children to be thankful, you are teaching them to ask for more."
How true in our world today when there is so much "stuff" that fills our lives and our homes!  How quickly children write out their Christmas lists (mine included!) when their rooms are full.  And how easy it is to teach them to say a simple prayer of thanks at the end of the day for the many blessings received.  This is the perfect time of year to show gratitude, not only for our children, but for us as well.  We have been making a point to ask our children what they are thankful for each night.  And want to make this a habit even after the holiday season.

What are you thankful for today?

Give Thanks

  1. I really like that quote from your pastor. And totally agree with you that it is sad that this seems to be where our society as a whole is heading whether in the home or as a nation. I think we'll be following your lead on asking our kids what they're thankful for.
